Heads' Appraisal

I am an IAPS trained and accredited appraiser of Heads.

I appraise Heads broadly in line with the IAPS model, as outlined in their publication ‘Head’s Appraisal Guidance’.

I also appraise senior leaders and managers in IAPS schools.

I pride myself on swiftly building strong and meaningful relationships of trust and mutual respect with Heads, their staff and governors. I am quick to understand people and organisations and am holistic in my approach to appraisal.

Mentoring, Critical Friendship & Away Days

I am a trained Mentor of IAPS Heads.

I also offer critical friendship to Heads and their senior staff. This might be to offer support towards a specific target or goal, or on any aspect of school management and leadership. 

For Heads who want or need some time away from school for reflection, we offer overnight stays and the opportunity to walk and talk by the sea or on the Downs, or a quiet space at home to discuss matters in a more structured way.

On-line Research Surveys

I carry out bespoke surveys for schools wanting to look into any aspect of their educational performance. 

Surveys can be tailored to involve consultation with stakeholders:

- on a targeted or 'global' basis

- as integral parts of appraisals for teaching staff and/or those in management and leadership roles 

- to assist the process of research into the performance of individual departments

- to help evaluate any other aspect of a school's educational provision.

Audit & Review Services

Whilst I am happy to review most aspects of a school's educational operation and service, I have specialised in the past in the following:

- Redundancy (overview of policy and practice)

- Safeguarding audit

- Curriculum review

- Management structure and systems, including communication and effectiveness.
